Of Finnish descent, but born and raised in California, TIN MAN now has a home in Vienna, a town perfectly suited to his deep and moody productions. TIN MAN launched his Global A label project in 2005. The first two releases, ‘Places’ and ‘Acid Acid’, weighed in at three pieces of vinyl each, and showcased his two major musical passions: fragile deep electronica and acid house. TIN MAN has acclaimed releases on the Finnish record label Sähkö / Keys of Life, Cheap Records from Vienna, and continues with new releases on his own imprint, Global A . While TIN MAN’s output is diverse in its references, certain underpinnings can be heard throughout. There is always a strong reference to Acid House music, as well as a strong reference to Ambient and Electronic Pop music from the past 30 years. TIN MAN’s newer output features his voice and follows a “concept album” format. Thus, complete records are as important as individual songs. The songs tend to follow a simple structure with changes that grow slowly within motifs. Mood construction and story telling are both equally important. And with each new record, there are new historical references to tell different stories. TIN MAN also continues with his passion for Acid House by continuing to produce retro-acid tracks and playing live shows regularly. These live shows celebrate early house music, its hypnotic charm, and its blissful raw energy.
Born in Rome, Donato Dozzy was fascinated by music even at an early age of childhood (by the age of 13, he was already a vinyl junkie!)
Over the past few years, Dozzy has been one of the chief characters at the Saturday night events at Brancaleone, one of Italy’s most celebrated clubs and a key promoter of underground music in Rome. He played a leading role at the microhouse night, together with some of the best DJs on the international scene, serving up DJ and laptop performances of great emotional impact, offering a microtrancey journey across the spectrum of electronic music.
As a producer, after his early work with the Kitchentools, Dozzy has released on Orangegroove, Lan Muzic and Rome-based Elettronica Romana (distributed by Neuton and Kompakt respectively). He currently resides in Berlin where he is channeling the city’s colorful and vibrant energy into his own personal experience and seeking professional help for his old vinyl addiction.
Parisian DJ, producer and remixer, Julien Auger began his musical career by learning guitar at the age of 14 and playing with various Parisian jazz/funk bands. It was around this time that he began DJing with a few different hip hop bands and also started to produce his first tracks for them.As raves became larger and more popular in the early 90s, Pepe discovered techno and house music. His first two records were released on BPM Records under the ‘Trankilou’ moniker, before he changed his name to Pepe Bradock. His musical influences range from jazz to dub reggae which culmulates in his hypnotic production style.
Pépé Bradock has done remixes for New Jersey’s Blaze, Cassius, Alex Gopher amongst many others. His biggest hits to date include ‘Burning’ and ‘Life’ both for the French label Kif. Apart from that Pepe has produced for well-known House labels including Classic (UK), Silver (France) and Nuphonic (UK).As a DJ, Pépé Bradock has spun in almost every major club in the world and is known for his versatile, and mesmerising mixing style.
Odd Movements, the debut full-length by Achterbahn D’Amour (Johannes Paluka and Jurgen Jool Albert), captures two artists coaxing the most emotional sounds to date out of classic Roland boxes. The album is the natural extension of the duo’s live-rooted sound, further defining the oblique dance moves contained on their three Acid Test EPs. (Achterbahn D’Amour has also released on Johannes Albert’s Frank Music and remixed the late Aaron Carl.) Odd Movements feels like a wintry retreat from the club - Jool and Johannes sought refuge from personal turmoil in the studio while making the album. As listeners, we’re treated to several sides of sinuous funk with deep emotional resonance.
